Halfway Through 2025!

It’s hard to believe we’re halfway through 2025! Thanks to our member-owners, staff, and managers, we’re off to a fantastic start. Your support is helping us grow and thrive.

West Side (Quincy) Updates:

  • We completed the final part of our $240k equipment grant, installing a new storage walk-in and freezer. During this upgrade, we uncovered some floor damage, a natural result of being in our 269 Main St. location since 2003.
  • A huge thank you to Front End Manager Theo for installing the new umbrellas and Nova Collinson and family for volunteering their time to overhaul the landscaping in front of the store. It’s a beautiful transformation!
  • Sales at our Quincy location are up 6.3% year-over-year as of June 30th. A store re-set this fall will bring in new items and more growth. Our deli continues to shine, with pot pies being a standout hit!

East Side (Portola) Updates:

  • Portola continues to grow as the go-to spot for groceries in town. The 2024 shelving update helped shift the store’s vibe from quirky 1950’s grocery to a sleek, modern natural foods store. We’re receiving lots of positive feedback!
  • A generator is being installed this fall to power refrigeration during outages. We’re also updating the building’s electrical systems to support future growth.
  • We’re applying for a grant to replace outdated refrigeration in the dairy section, which could bring us up to $100k to invest in a new case.
  • As of June 30th, Portola has seen an 11.9% sales increase, continuing the trend of double-digit growth. More new members are joining us from the East Side, and we’re so grateful to see this momentum!

Ways to Support:

If you’re looking for more ways to support the co-op, consider running for the Board of Directors! The Board plays an essential role in our co-op’s future. If that seems like a bit much, the Membership Committee also has openings for those who want to get involved and help plan member events.

Thank you for your continued support. I feel incredibly lucky to live and work in such a beautiful community with amazing people. Cheers to another successful year ahead!

Sincerely,

Marcie Wilde, General Manager
