About Us

Welcome To Our Co-op!

When we opened our doors in 1978 to a small group of like-minded Plumas County locals, we had a vision to construct a more equitable and nutritious food system for our community. Nearly five decades later, that dream has come true. We are proud to be your co-op of the Lost Sierra.

In alignment with our mission to support local and sustainable agriculture, we have Plumas County’s largest selection of organically grown and local produce. We also offer an excellent variety of natural vitamins, herbs, and supplements, a complete selection of health and body care products, and over 300 varieties of bulk foods, herbs, and spices. We have delicious artisan breads, baked goods, and deli foods made fresh on-site, not to mention our locally-famous soups! Our staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

The Feather River Food Co-op is open to the public, but being a member-owner offers valuable discounts and opportunities. With a mere $20/year membership, you gain access to co-op deals and sizable quarterly discounts while also showing support for local businesses, sustainable agriculture, and consumer cooperation. Our membership and role in the community continues to grow as more and more people become aware of the benefits of a natural foods diet.

We welcome new members to join us.

Why Co-op?

Cooperative Businesses Make Sense

A co-op is owned by the people who use it. Feather River Food Co-op works to promote local ownership, economic democracy and environmentally friendly business practices.

Being a cooperative means that we operate our business according to principles that are shared by consumer-owned co-ops around the world.

The Seven Cooperative Principles:
  1. Voluntary and open membership
  2. Democratic member control
  3. Members’ economic participation
  4. Autonomy and independence
  5. Education, training, and information
  6. Cooperation among cooperatives
  7. Concern for community

Co-ops are formed by their members to provide needed goods or services at affordable prices and acceptable quality. Throughout the world, cooperatives are providing co-op members with financial services, utilities, consumer goods, affordable housing, and other services that would otherwise not be available to them.

Co-op owners elect representatives to serve on our Board of Directors and participate directly by voting, attending meetings and events, and offering regular feedback and suggestions. Everyone is welcome to shop at our co-ops. We hope you’ll choose to become an owner and join our community of cooperation. Cooperatives empower people to improve their quality of life and enhance their economic opportunities through self-help. Quincy Natural Foods Co-op and Feather River Food Co-op are dedicated to providing products and services that are beneficial to the health of our owners, our community and our environment.
