Cheers to 2026!

Goodbye 2025

As we say goodbye to 2025, we’re excited to reflect on a year of strong growth and look ahead to what’s next for our co-op. We closed out 2025 with success across the organization, growing by 7.5%, outpacing projections by 4.04%, a true testament to the support of our members and community.

In Quincy, we saw exceptional performance, particularly in Prepared Foods. That department grew from $730k in sales to $813k, driven in large part by the introduction of our hot bar in March 2025, which generated $43K in additional sales. We’re thrilled to have become a go-to lunch destination, and our pot pies continue to be a standout favorite, selling out every Thursday! Total sales growth for our Quincy location came in at 6.8% over 2024.

Our Portola store also continued its rapid growth, reporting a 9% increase in sales. The strongest gains came from our fresh departments—meat, dairy, and produce. These areas will be a key focus as we move into 2026, including evaluating the potential for expanded cooler space to support continued growth.

Looking Ahead to 2026

We have exciting plans on the horizon. We are currently considering a major expansion project that would include a larger commercial kitchen in Quincy and additional retail space. Rest assured, we are not moving either store to a new location. More details will be shared during our highly anticipated Listening Session in mid-January.

In Quincy, efforts will continue to improve the overall shopping experience. A mid-January product reset will enhance store flow and create space for new items. We’re also working to revitalize the space with improved lighting and updates to outdoor landscaping.

In Portola, we’re making important infrastructure upgrades to support future growth. We are currently replacing outdated electrical outlets to improve safety, with plans to repaint the interior for a fresh new look. Looking ahead, we aim to replace aging refrigeration units with modern, energy-efficient models—creating more room for new products while improving overall efficiency.

Get Involved

If you’re interested in becoming more involved with the co-op, we encourage you to consider running for our Board of Directors. The Board plays a vital role in overseeing the co-op’s financial health and working closely with the General Manager to ensure members’ needs are met. Visit our website for more information on Board responsibilities and how to apply for candidacy. Board elections are held in March each year. If you are interested, the deadline for candidate declarations is February 26th. Pick up a packet today at either store front.

Thank you for being part of our co-op community—we look forward to an exciting year ahead!
