Nationwide Egg Shortage Hits Your Local Co-op

As you have heard in the news, there is a nationwide egg shortage. Your co-op is not immune to this issue. On top of inflation affecting store inventory, a deadly strain of avian influenza has limited the country’s supply of eggs. We have been watching a slow decline in the availability of eggs in the recent months, and it was only time before we saw complete out of stocks. This is currently the case. Last delivery we ordered 15 cases of eggs, only to receive 1 case in our delivery.

Not only is this affecting the grocery world, but it is also impacting our deli as well. Many of your favorite recipes call for eggs, and you will start to see less availability in foods that call for eggs. This can include (but not limited to) breakfast burritos and many of the breakfast items we make.

We expect deliveries of eggs on Monday and Thursday mornings, if eggs are available. At this time, we are not able to hold eggs for customers. Eggs will be sold on a ‘first come, first serve basis”. Thank you for your continued support.
