Yes, our Portola store building is FOR SALE
By now you may have seen or heard that the building that we occupy for our Portola co-op location is up for sale. Do not fear, the co-op wants to stay in Portola – in that location! We have been renting this location since 2013. We are committed to supporting the Portola community. We can tell by the huge increase in shoppers at this location over last year the value of the co-op for Portola.
Our hope is that a new buyer will see the benefits of our co-op to the community, the long-term viability of the business, and growing sales and continue to lease the space to us.
Why can’t the co-op buy it?
After three years of a pandemic, supply chain issues, aging equipment and staffing shortages, our resources have been stretched thin. We are not in the capacity to purchase the building at this time. The current mortgage interest rates and costs associated with being a buyer are also not in the co-op’s favor and would put a strain on the co-ops finances.
I’m concerned! How can I let my voice be heard?
The co-op has monthly board meetings that you can participate in from the comfort of your own home. Board meetings are open to members only. If you wish to address the board regarding this matter, please reach out to them at board@featherriver.coop.
